A vs An

1 min read EnglishGrammarWriting Tips

I get frustrated when "a" and "an" get misused in writing

A comes before words that start with a consonant sound.

An comes before words that start with a vowel sound.

A sandwich. An umbrella.

It's "an hour" because the h is silent, you say "our".

It's "a one-way" because it starts with a "wun" sound.

If I had a Twitter, this probably would have just been a tweet
